The Highwayman (Demo)

about

This is a demo of my new song "The Highwayman." I hope you all enjoy!
*Keep in mind that this is a demo; it is unmastered, and may not be as loud as other music.

I wrote this song after watching an episode of Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated one evening with my wife. This particular episode was titled "Stand and Deliver," and the villain was called The Dandy Highwayman. Afterward, I picked up my guitar and started playing slide and this song came out.

lyrics

Down on the Highway
On the Eastern Shore
And all through the Valley
To the Western Ward

The Highwayman
Running down the Fool
The Highwayman

Stand and Deliver
Your goods, gold, and girl
He won't take her hostage
She'll follow of her own accord
A Smooth Operator
A devil with a silver tongue
It's no competition
It's all for his own fun

The Highwayman
Running down the Fool
The Highwayman

Don't try to fight him
The Brawl's already won
Can't help but like him
Your girl's as good as gone
Down on the highway
No man is free to roam
All through the Valley
The Highway's his home

The Highwayman
Running down the Fool
The Highwayman
